The breakfast spread was awesome. It had a lot of variety. The location of the hotel is also very strategic; close to shops, the market, Freddie Mercury museum, transportation and the Forodhani night food market (a must visit). Oh and the breathtaking views from the terrace restaurant. Bonus: we had an early flight out of Zanzibar and breakfast was still provided for us.

The location is really convenient, in the middle of the shopping area, surrounded by all of the important sights in Stone Town. A lovely rooftop restaurant and bar.

Great location and central to most things. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Mosquito nets on the beds and i would recommend using them, as the little pests can get into the rooms. Breakfast was a great choice and i would recommend it. Though the room service for we ordered, was not really that nice, the pizza had an odd taste to it and the chicken wings didn't have much flavour. There only other thing to be careful of is that when it rains, the road directly outside the hotel seems to get really deep and almost a small river. Nice hotel though and i would stay here again.

I liked the express check-in that was offered this time. I was also impressed by the tremendous improvement to their rooftop restaurant menu and quality of food. The breakfast spread was good, and the lunch and dinner menu offered a good variety of local as well as international dishes. The nightly live music also provided good entertainment.

The view from the top / terrace restaurant was amazing as it gives a glimpse of buildings of stone town as well as the sea. Lovely spot to enjoy meals or drinks at any time of the day. All the staff was very courteous and helpful. The interior design and ambience of the hotel is very neat and aligned to local architecture.

Maru Maru is a located in the heart of Stonetown, just 5 mins from the sea front and 10 mins from the ferry terminal. Our room was very clean and cozy with a super shower. It offers everything you need for a short stay. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace and it was superb, with different choices each day. Service was exemplary. We reported problems connecting to WiFi and the next day an IT engineer had visited and fixed the issue. They even left a bottle of wine to say "sorry for the inconvenience".

The rooftop restaurant was spectacular! Lots of food and drink options as well as evening entertainment. The room was clean, cool, and spacious. The location was perfect for sightseeing in Stone Town and surrounding areas. The staff was kind and helpful and we were able to arrange all our excursions at the front desk. We did not have to worry about anything!

The room was spacious, and very clean, hotel in the best location. The driver is kind, treated us well, and a very proud man of his country and has high dreams for it. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very nice inside, the pictures dont really do it justice.

Amazing stay, the staff were so welcoming and accomodating. We were on honeymoon and they decorated our room and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. The hotel is beautiful, clean and in the perfect location. Gorgeous rooftop bar and restaurant with great happy hour, live music and a lovely pool. Stunning views over the harbour. Nothing was too much trouble. Ordering taxis, excursions, help with directions. Would stay again in a second.

Wow, i can fill a whole page about how Great this hotel is! I was in tears leaving thia place. Omg, it was over and beyond what i expected. When i was choosing this place, it was after reading all the reviews about hotels in stonetown, from top to bottom throughout all the review sites on the net. It was horrible reviews about all the hotels except this one,and i thought it must be too good to be true! But No, it is truly very, very good in reality, everything is 10/10 The staff is 100% the most service minded people in stowntown. The rooms and what i get in there is like 5* hotel, the facilities are so beautiful. And literally walking distance 5-10 min around the historical places and famously spots in stowntown. What u get for the price u pay is sooo cheap! Right now i arrived in a 5* hotel in Nungwi, and Boy' Maru maru hotel felt more like a 5* than this one here. I would come back anyday any time. Assante sana Marumaru crew for the great hospitality.
